Nihal Akarsu (Çanakkale) and Canan Tulca (İzmir) were born in 1983. The paths of the duo crossed in the Art Department of İzmir Işılay Saygın Anatolian Fine Arts High School. Nihal and Canan both graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (2006-2007). Nihal completed her education in Interior Design and Canan in Graphic Design. After graduation, Nihal took part in many national and international projects in leading interior architecture offices in Istanbul for about 7 years. Meanwhile, Canan worked as an Art Director for well-known brands (Yeni Rakı, Matraş, Tuborg – Carlsberg, Toyota, Pınar, Garanti Emeklilik, Duru, Solo, L'Oreal, Gnctrkcll, Coke Zero, Saab etc.) in Turkey's leading advertising agencies for 8 years. During this period, she received awards from various Turkish and international organizations and participated in several exhibitions.
Nihal and Canan persist in their creative odyssey, both in Turkey and beyond, guided by Kitchen-ist which they established in 2013.

GRAPHIC DESIGN and INTERIOR DESIGN knead together with a holistic approach to create branded spaces with unique identities and spirit that appeal to emotions. Throughout the creative process, although these two disciplines are the main tools, kitchen-ist work with many different disciplines by collaborating with designers, artists and craftsmen.
